Love Promise Stories from Subaru of Spartanburg

Subaru and Subaru of Spartanburg believe in making a positive impact on the communities in which we live and work. We uphold that belief through our Love Promise Community Commitment. Every month, we select inspiring stories from customers and partners from around our area who strive to support our collective commitment and feature them here.

Christmas Parade - Natalia R.

Under the Christmas lights of the Pacolet parade, the Subaru rolled forward, steady and sure. It wasn’t there to impress—it was there to promise. A promise to show up, year after year, for the people lining the streets. A promise to carry families safely home after the lights dimmed. A promise to brave rain, cold, and back roads without hesitation. With a tree on the roof and lights glowing softly, the Subaru moved through town like a vow in motion—dependable, present, and proud to belong. It promised to be more than a vehicle in a parade. It promised to be part of Pacolet’s story, every season, every mile. Because love doesn’t always speak. Sometimes, it promises—and keeps going. ????

Christmas Joy - Natalia R.

This holiday season, we were grateful for the opportunity to support The Bridge at Green Street Annual Christmas Shop—a remarkable effort that brings hope and holiday magic to local families. Thanks to the generosity of our team, customers, and community, we collected and delivered two full loads of unwrapped toys—bikes, puzzles, games, stuffed animals, and so much more. Every donation represented a moment of joy waiting to be unwrapped and a reminder to families that their community is standing with them. Because of your kindness, over 70 children and 26 families will experience a brighter Christmas filled with smiles, surprises, and a little extra warmth this year. ?? Moments like these remind us why giving back matters—and how powerful it is when a community comes together.

Coming Together to Celebrate Teamwork - Natalia R.

This Thanksgiving, our team gathered for a special potluck that reminded us what the Subaru Love Promise is all about—community, gratitude, and taking care of each other. Everyone brought a dish that meant something to them, from family-recipe sides to homemade desserts. As the table filled with food, our space filled with laughter, stories, and the warmth that comes from truly being part of a team. But the day was about more than sharing a meal. It was a celebration of the everyday teamwork that keeps us moving forward—helping one another during busy days, stepping in when someone needs support, and recognizing that we succeed because we rely on each other. Our Thanksgiving potluck showed that the Love Promise isn’t just something we extend to our customers and community—it lives within our team, too. By coming together, showing appreciation, and supporting one another, we continue to build a workplace where everyone belongs. This simple gathering became a reminder that when we lift each other up, we all grow stronger. And that’s the heart of the Subaru Love Promise.

No One Leaf Behind - Natalia R.

During our Mobile Meals route, where we deliver hot, nutritious meals to homebound and fragile residents throughout Spartanburg County, we’re reminded that what we offer is more than food. It is fellowship, compassion, and a moment of connection. On our route today, we noticed that one of our friends had leaves piled all around his home, making it unsafe for him to step outside for Thanksgiving. We couldn’t leave it that way. We went back to the dealership, picked up our leaf blower, and returned to clear it all for him. Because at the end of the day, we are so much more than a car company. We are a part of this community, and we take care of our own.

Upstate Strut For Childhood Cancer 5K - Natalia R.

What an incredible day—our Subaru of Spartanburg team joined hundreds of runners, and together our community helped raise over $65,000 for Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolinas. ???? Thank you to everyone who showed up, ran, and made a difference. ???? #SubieofSpartanburg #SubaruLovePromise #SubaruCares

Subaru Loves to Care - NATALIA R.

Nothing better than dropping off an Ascent full of heart blankets to the Gibbs Cancer Center & Research Institute! We have partnered with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) delivering warm blankets, patient care kits, and encouraging messages written by our Subaru family to our Gibbs family! Some people ask why we give blankets in the middle of summer, but the truth is that many cancer patients often get cold during treatment, regardless of the season! This is the 10th year of this partnership, and we don't plan on stopping!

More Than Just Trash - NATALIA R.

We had a long-time customer walk into Subaru of Spartanburg; he wasn’t here just for service—he just needed help. He spoke with quiet honesty, when spoken too and when he was explained the maintenace needed on his Subaru, he rubbed his head. The oil change wasn't something he could fully pay for right now; he started to explain that he was overwhelmed with lift and that his property had gotten out of control. Over the years, life had thrown him one challenge after another, and the piles of trash, rusted tools, and scattered debris outside his home were proof of how overwhelming it had all become. He wasn’t looking for pity, just someone who would understand. Seeing the weight he carried, we met him with empathy, assuring him we’d take care of his service. That wasn't enough for one of our service advisors, who took it upon herself to go to the customer's house and help clean what she could. She said that when her and her husband arrived at his home, the sight was daunting, but we treated each item with care, knowing that some things held memories. As we worked, he stood nearby, watching, occasionally pointing out something that had meant something once but now needed to go. It wasn’t just about cleaning up; it was about giving him a fresh start. By the time we finished, the yard looked like a different place—open, lighter, full of possibility. Our beloved customer, now family, took a deep breath, his shoulders finally relaxing. The appreciation in his eyes said more than words ever could. “I wasn’t sure I could trust anyone with this,” he admitted, his voice softer now. “But you treated my home with respect, like it actually mattered.” I shook his hand firmly, knowing this was more than just another job. As we drove away with a huge pile of trash, it made us realize that sometimes, what we do isn’t just about hauling away trash—it’s about restoring dignity, offering a little hope, and reminding people they’re not alone.

Heating up The Bridge - NATALIA R.

We asked our community to bring in some coats that they might have, and we were able to donate this big box of winter clothes to The Bridge Center. This center helps the people of the community with clothes, food and a place to stay so it was only fitting that we helped out too. Thank you to the staff there working hard for our community!

She is a true gem and it is amazing how her generosity can have such a positive impact on our community. The selflessness of others is truly what it is about. We are able to add some pet accessories as well. The idea to start a new tradition with pet accessories is so thoughtful and will definitely bring even more joy to our guests and their furry companions here at Subaru of Spartanburg! What a wonderful way to show appreciation to the four-legged family members! Keep spreading that kindness!!

Take a Book, Leave a Book - NATALIA R.

Take a book, leave a book is a book nook that is placed around the community to encourage people to share books with a continuous swapping of books. There is one by the dealership that was looking a little low on inventory, so we donated some books! Reading is a very important skill to have, and we are so happy that we were able to help out our book community!

Subaru Retailers Team Up to Support Hurricane Relief Efforts - Jess M.

At Subaru of Spartanburg, we’re always ready to step up and support our communities, especially in times of crisis. This commitment is at the heart of the Subaru Love Promise®. When Hurricanes Helene and Milton devastated the Eastern region, Subaru retailers like us immediately sprang into action. Alongside other Subaru retailers, Subaru of America, and local organizations, we assessed the most urgent needs in the affected areas. It quickly became clear that local food banks were struggling to keep up with the surge in demand as they worked to support people hit hardest by the storms. In response, we teamed up with 67 Subaru retailers across the region to launch a $400,000 match campaign to aid the hurricane relief efforts of Feeding America®. Subaru of Spartanburg proudly contributed $5000 to this initiative. While the immediate impact of the storms fades from the headlines, many of our neighbors continue to face long-term challenges like food insecurity, water shortages, power outages, and limited access to essential services. Thanks to the collective generosity of Subaru retailers and the communities we serve, an additional $18,427 was raised. This brings the total impact to $418,427, or over 4,100,000 meals for those in need. "As one of the nation's largest disaster relief organizations, the Feeding America network of food banks and partner agencies is deeply rooted in communities across the country. Together, our partnership with trusted Subaru dealers has helped expedite emergency food assistance and supplies to people who need it most. We are immensely grateful," said Feeding America Chief Development Officer Casey Marsh.
